Rainy Days
For spring break I returned to Santa Cruz for a week of stormy weather, birthday celebrations, and daffodils. All week I was indoors, while it rained and winded outside. Yesterday, we threw a party for my Dad's 50th birthday, and the sun decided to make a surprise appearance. I embraced this spot of sunshine and put on my new bright yellow H&M skirt from Crossroads Trading Co., a white blouse, and my white heeled boots. My mom noticed how well my skirt matched the daffodils that were in our house, and took a few pictures of me while a played cards with my brother.

A guest at the party brought this arrangement as a gift. I love the idea! The bright yellow daffodils with the lemons was stunning and so very clever. |

Often when my friend and I go to eat at the dining hall for lunch, the eccentric singing cafeteria lady who swipes our cards gives me a compliment on my outfit, but sometimes she doesn't. I have come to appreciate her as a wise fashion critic under the disguise of a crazy Cal Dining worker and have started to take her fashion sense very seriously. In fact, I have noticed that many of the women working in the dining hall are quite the style experts and possibly fashion gurus undercover who are searching for the next great designer to shoot off into the fashion world.
A few weeks ago I received a huge fashion honor form one of these women. A lady in our dining hall complimented my outfit and then announced that I had won her Best Dressed Student Award for the semester, and even possibly the year! Probably my proudest achievement ever.
