Seaside Town

The fall FAST fashion show went wonderfully! Although I was sewing up until the last minute, it really paid off the moment the models hit the runway. I was so proud of the beautiful eight looks I created and already wore the pair of pants from the line today. I also made my own outfit (and matching turban) and had a lot of fun wearing it in the show. The girls looked stunning in their outfits and did such a fantastic job modeling! More pictures to come soon!

The fall show is a just over a week away! Over Thanksgiving break I worked on some of my accessories- fabric wrapped bangles. I bought some ugly, cheap bangles online and used fabric scraps to create them into colorful bracelets to go with my outfits for the fashion show. They were fun and easy to make I can't wait to wear them after the show is over.

Welcome to Adventure Park

Today was the photo shoot for the Fall 2012 fashion show, and two of my designs were chosen for this shoot! We went to the Berkeley marina and stumbled across a park made up of tires, old boats, and recycled materials; it was the perfect scene for us to take pictures! The rain had stopped and the models bravely walked around barefoot in the cold, wet weather. It was really fun and I can't wait to see how the prints turn out. Here are some pictures I snapped on my iphone.

Preparing for the photo shoot.

Fall 2012 Preview

My Fall 2012 line is coming along! It's hard to focus on schoolwork when all I want to do is sew, sew, sew! I'm using the circle as the basis for many of my skirts and dresses and I love the fabrics I found. I'm going to create turbans to go with the looks to add to the 1920's vibe as well as some fun bracelets. The theme of the show is Quest and I've been imagining the girl wearing these clothes out on an adventure with a backpack and a spyglass, letting her imagination run wild.

Fall 2012 Collection- My Inspirations.

I've started working on my Fall 2012 Collection and am so excited about how it is coming along! My inspirations are florals and the 1920's.  I'm mixing patterns and trying new silhouettes; it's going to be soft, ethereal, and graphic. It's been hard to focus on the essays I should be writing for class when I have so many amazing fabrics sitting in my room waiting to be created into something beautiful! Perhaps I'll give you a sneak peak of the collection soon. If you want to see my inspiration board in its entirety, you can check it out here.

Do you remember, the 21st night of September?

Last night, my housemates and I put on our groovy 70's gear and threw an Earth Wind and Fire party, inspired by their song 21st Night of September. There were great outfits and great dancing and we had a wonderful time. I wore some funky pants I had and Brian wore a pair of tiny track shorts (women's of course), a hilarious cheerleading Tshirt we found at a thrift store here in Berkeley and a moustache, tube socks and a sweat band. Here are some very poor photos as  evidence to our groovy getups.

Thrifting

This weekend my friends and I went thrifting in Oakland. I had some great find! I got two summery dresses, a pair of brown J Crew corduroys, a nice cream colored three quarter length tee, and a blue button up collared shirt (little boys).  I've also been working on a dress this week with some strange farm scene fabric I found at Fabrics R Us for $2 a yard. I'm making a sweet little farm dress with a pleated skirt and a deep V back. I'm very excited about it and will post pictures when it's done!

Today I made a jersey circle skirt, which my lovely friend Julie is modeled for me. The skirt is up for sale on my etsy site, and you can check it out here. I really love the print of this fabric!
