Here are some more of the patterns from Decades of Style that I want to make.

Decades of Style

Here is my new sewing project! The pattern company is called Decades of Style and has so many adorable vintage patterns that I want to make. I picked out a very 1960's Alexander Henry fabric and some sweet blue buttons. I am making one for my roommate first. I will post pictures as soon as I finish the project!

Pinterest!

My roommate recently introduced me to Pinterest. It as a website where you can create inspiration boards out of images you find on the internet. It is very fun and I am having a great time playing around with it!

Cute as a Button.

Last night I has some fun with fabric yo-yos and made a necklace out of them using various small pieces of fabric and buttons. I strung them together with thread and then attached some thin yarn (due to lack of embroidery floss) to either side. I love the way it turned out and can't wait to wear it with a simple black dress.

Mad Women

Lately I have been quite obsessed with the show Mad Men. The whole styling of the show is beautiful, from the furniture to the clothing to the cars to the parties.  Being a fan of 1960's clothing, I absolutely love the outfits that Betty Draper and Joan wear. They always look so put together with the perfect hair, lipstick, shoes and bags. I have been looking at 1960 fashion magazine covers too, just for fun. How fun it would have been to dress in those days!

Sunshine Inspires Creativity

This weekend the sun came out and it was so beautiful. It felt wonderful to walk outside in a dress without a coat. People were playing and napping out on Memorial Glade, enjoying the warm weather with their dogs and children.
I went to a fabric store in Berkeley on Saturday with my roommates. It was such a treat to walk into Stonemountain and Daughter Fabrics. They had an overwhelming amount of cotton prints and fun buttons. I bought a pattern for a simple nightgown which I cut out that night and sewed the next day. I used a groovy pink and white silk cotton blend and matching pink lace. It turned out great. I am going to make another one for my roommate soon.
They had some beautiful  Vintage Vogue Patterns that I am so eager to make. They have some beautiful retro style dresses, skirts, and blouses. I also found a free pattern for bloomers online that I want to try.
